Setting Up The Tune In Links

    Step 1

First of all you will need to located the RadioLinks directory which was contained in the zip file you downloaded for your Bouncy Radio Center Install Files. Inside there will be some files, in specific we only need to worry about "iTunes.pls", "RealMediaPlayer.ram" and "WindowsMediaPlayer.asx".

    Step 2

The next thing we need to do is right click each file and then choose "Open With.." from the list of programs select "Word Pad" if its not in the list select "Choose Default Program" on the choose default program page there will be a check box "Always use selected program to open this type of file" ensure that the tick box is NOT checked.

    Step 3

So now your .asx, .ram and .pls files are open in Word Pad you should see the file contains some text with links and other data. his is what we need to endit to make your tune in links work for your radio when people click them. We have made this process simple and easy for you. All you have to do is visit This Page, fill in the 4 boxes and click submit, below will then show the 3 pieces of code you can copy and paste into each file. You then simply save the file, and re-upload back into the RadioLinks directory on your website.

  2. Entering Your Radio Settings

    Hostname

The Hostname can be 1 of 3 things,
    localhost,
    yourdomain.com,
    ip address,

"localhost" generally means your radio is hosted locally, as in its on the same server as your website. This is generally not advised for using within the Tune In links for the simple reason that some people will save the tune in files to there desktop, in which case "localhost" then reffers to there computer and the connection fails. It will however work if the tune in link is clicked from your webpage. "localhost" can also be used in your radio center connection settings, although this will give slight speed improvments for socket connection times, again it is not advised you use it, this is because the radio center uses this entry in the dj connection details within the radio center, so when a dj views the connection details he will of course see the hostname is "localhost" this can cause problems for dj's who are unaware as to what localhost refers to, and if they enter "localhost" into there broadcatsing program, it will simply try connecting to there computer rather than your radio server.

"yourdomain.com" and "ip address" are the prefered methods of connection. However when using a domain name there are some rules that apply. lets say your radio is hosted here at BouncyServers. You would enter your hostname as "bouncyservers.co.uk" without the quotes of course. If your radio was hosted on google, your hostname would be "google.com" again without the quotes("). The important thing to remember when using your domain name as your radio's hostname is that you MUST NOT include "http://" OR "www." because the connection will simply fail and you will get connection refused errors. If your website and your radio are both hosted with us here at BouncyServers you can use your own domain name for your radio for example if i hosted my website AnthonyKinson.co.uk with bouncyservers, and i also had a radio package from bouncyservers, i could use either "anthonykinson.co.uk" or "bouncyservers.co.uk" as my host name. These can also be used in my radio's Tune In links so i have a completly custom radio to my website.

"Ip Address" is pretty straight forward, it is simply the ip address of the server where the radio resides. There are no special requirements for using an Ip Address as long as its valid and actually the ip address of yoru radio server. This option is normally only used when people dont wish to use there radios hostname and it shouldnt cause any problems for DJ's connecting or in Tune In Files.

    Port

The port number is usually 4 numbers long and is usually a number above 8000. Your port number will be provided to you by your radio host.

    Admin Password

The radio Center uses the admin password to connect to your radio server and is also used in the radio options dropdown menu indicated by (Admin Only) tag to the right of the option. within the radio center.

The admin password is CaSe SenSiTive and needs to be entered correctly for your radio center to properly work. The admin password can be used for broadcasting and accessing all of your radio functions and controls.

    DJ Password

The radio Center uses the DJ Password to display in the radio center under connection details. This allows you to update the password once in your settings if you change it so that all your dj's have the latest connection details straight from within the radio center. This stops you having to manually contact each dj manually to inform them of the new password change.

The DJ password is CaSe SenSiTive and needs to be entered correctly for your dj's to be able to connect. The Dj Password is used for broadcasting on your radio and also some of the radio controls in the dropdown menu within the radio center. The dj password can be used in the same way as the admin password, but only a few radio control options can be used with it from within your SHOUTcast radio.
